Mabantu
About Mabantu is a Music Duo from Dar-es-s salaam, Tanzania. The group consists of two friends, Twarha Kanengo (Twarha Mabantu, born 9th July, 1997) and Mwarami Kajonje (Muu Mabantu, born 21st January, 1999). The group got famously known after releasing a single with Young Lunya “Nawakera” in 2020. Which then led to them emerge in the Bongo Fleva industry and got popular to many fans with a contribution to their hit song “Sponsa” released in 2020 as well. The DUO also has hits including “Sundi” (2018), “Bodaboda” (2018), “Kama tulivyo” (2019) featuring Whozu and many others. Utamu remix (2021) featuring Harmonize made a hit and rocked bongo fleva industry massively. Historical Background Before the group merging, the two were in a Musical institution called “Mkubwa na Wanawe” owned by Said Fella in Temeke. Mwarami joined Mkubwa na Wanawe in late 2011, followed by Twarha in 2012. In 2013, the two left the group Before they could even release a project in the band after they could not meet their expectations from it. They then decided to form a duo calling it “MABANTU” coming from the name “BANTU” carrying a meaning of an African Tribe. During their stay in the institution, they both learned to play some musical instruments, dance as well as personal presentation as artists. The two managed to record singles in the house but were not released till this date. Twarha is a perfomer, dancer and singer while Mwarami focused on only singing.
