Sharifu Said Juma, also known as Jay Melody, is a Tanzanian singer-songwriter, actor, model, and music composer from Dar es Salaam. Crowned as the “King of Melodies,” the 25-year-old earned the title due to his exceptional talent of creating outstanding melodies. Born on June 12, 1997, Jay Melody grew up in one of the most commercial cities of Tanzania. The Dar es Salaam native first discovered his passion for music when he was at primary school. He attended Tanzania house of Talents (THT) in 2016, further immersing himself in the craft, mastering the art, and understanding the business behind it. Jay Melody grew to prominence with the massive hit “Namwaga mboga” that featured The African Princess, Nandy. The young talent’s official solo debut was “Goroka,” released in 2017. Ever since his impactful start, the artist has been producing hit after hit, establishing himself in the Tanzanian music industry. Alongside his music career, Jay Melody is also an eminent businessman. He is the owner and founder of UNI FRIENDS, an edutainment event that aims at educating and entertaining university students by helping them uncover their talents. The project spreads its wings across regions that have universities, colleges, and institutes. In 2022, it took place in Dodoma with an audience exceeding three thousand individuals.
