Meja Kunta
Meja Kunta is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter who is known for his unique style of singeli music. Born and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Meja Kunta started his music career as a member of a group called Team Jangwani before pursuing a solo career. He is currently signed to BXTRA RECORDS. Meja Kunta gained widespread recognition in Tanzania with his hit song "Mambo Yasiwe Mengi" in 2019, which has since been viewed millions of times on YouTube. His music is characterized by fast-paced beats, catchy hooks, and lyrics that often address social and political issues. He is known for blending singeli with other genres, such as hip hop and R&B, to create a unique sound. Meja Kunta has collaborated with several prominent artists in Tanzania, including Marioo, Diamond Platnumz, Lava Lava, and Mbosso. He has also worked with other singeli artists such as Mzee wa Bwax and Man Fongo.
