Zen Mechanics
ZEN MECHANICS is the Psychedelic Trance project of Wouter Thomassen, founder of the SOURCECODE TRANSMISSIONS label, born in Holland, but now based in Byron Bay, Australia. Drawing from his experience in the Dutch underground scene as a DJ, graphic designer, and event organiser, he formed Zen Mechanics around 2003. He began merging Progressive elements with powerful, driving basslines and ethereal Ambient overtones into a signature sound brimming with vibe and atmosphere, made for big open-air dancefloors. Over the years, he has become one of the Psytrance scene's most influential artists, with a big string of releases and compilations under his belt (on labels such as Iboga, Nano, Iono, Aleph Zero, Flow, Neurobiotic) and many remixes and collaborations, most notably the project ZENTURA (with Yoni Oshrat - Ace Ventura) and artists like Perfect Stranger, Dick Trevor, Eat Static, Symbolic, Egorythmia, Liquid Soul, Yestermorrow, E-Clip, Sonic Species, Ritmo, Headroom, Allaby, etc Since releasing his debut album "Holy Cities" in 2008, he's been travelling the global Psychedelic Trance circuit nonstop, rocking dancefloors far and wide. From obscure bush doofs to virtually every major Trance festival on the planet, with multiple appearances at festivals such as Universo Paralello (Br), Boom (Pt), Ozora (Hun), Shambhala (Can), Solstice (Jp), Rainbow Serpent (Aus), Symbiosis (US), Vortex (SA), Oregon Eclipse (US), Mountain Madness (Nepal), Tribe (Br), Time & Space (Mex).
