Helly Luv, born Helan Abdulla on November 16, 1988, in Sanandaj, Iran, is a Kurdish singer, actor, and activist best known for her significant contributions to music and campaigning for Kurdish rights. She grew up in a Kurdish family and experienced cultural identity and displacement from a young age. Helly and her family escaped to Turkey in 1997 in response to political unrest in Iran, eventually settling in the United States. She discovered her love of music and dancing in the United States, where she was inspired by her Kurdish roots. Her distinctive blend of pop, traditional Kurdish melodies, and current influences immediately gained popularity. Helly rose to prominence with her debut track "Risk It All," which demonstrated her dedication to raising awareness about Kurdish concerns and her people's struggles.
