Hanoi-born Trần Uy Đức blurs the lines between deconstructed club, musique concrète, and deeply intimate pop. Active since 2018, his sound is rooted in an early embrace of raw metallic noise—inspired by his father’s metal sculptures. While often described as a “collagist,” Đức considers his music a sonic diary, seeking linearity out of chaos to review themes of queer identity and collective trauma. Pitchfork described his sophomore project Came as “beguiling… capturing life as both a series of granular events and a monolithic fog.” He is also recognized for his ability to reconcile disparate textures; in a review of his live recordings, Bandcamp noted that his music “nonetheless deserves to be played loud,” even when it deviates far from a traditional dancefloor release.
