اگآہی رآہی | Agaahi Raahi | आगाही राही
An audit manager by “profession”, Agaahi Raahi AKA Farhan Ahmed is a rapper and one of the co-founders of Wanandaf, a hip hop collective based in Bangalore. Agaahi graduated from Delhi University and landed a job through campus placement soon after. And while he became part of the 9-5 cycle, his heart lay somewhere else. He had grown up listening to hip-hop music. Rapping came naturally albeit always remained on the periphery. But as fate had it, in 2017, he had to move to Bangalore for work. Living alone for the first time, Farhan found solace in music. Rapping became his companion and in 2019 he released his first single, Aagaaz. It was an invocation, Agaahi Raahi was getting into the scene.
Agaahi Raahi wasn’t rapping just to become part of the “scene”, as his name suggests, he was rapping with the purpose of spreading awareness of and calling out the injustices that prevail in our society. His songs are reflective of this will. He is angry and his song Krodh does the talking for him. Aayina is self-reflective, a call to look into oneself and find the will to change. Chaos on the other hand, is thinking through the mind of a riot monger. Released in May, Haalaat, which also got featured in Rolling Stone India, was called “a hard-hitting take on India as it goes through the coronavirus pandemic”. Haalaat also found a place in Asiaville News and The Indian Music Diaries.
