Singer, songwriter and live performer, AWEN comes from a culturally rich background. Half French, half Senegalese, she grew up in various cities in France before moving to Asia in her twenties. After studying classical music for a decade in her early years, Awen returned to the scene as an illustrious singer and dynamic live performer in 2015 while residing in Hong Kong. In 2019, drawn to her passion of songwriting, sharing stories that were close to her heart, her lyrical journey began.
Her first release was a collaboration with Floyd Lavine entitled Kusimama. She later released Gold featuring Daniel Rateuke, Your Voice with Caiiro, and In Your Eyes with Liva K, all on Thessaloniki based Madorasindahouse.
AWEN’s debut album Redemption included tracks with Enoo Napa, Liva K, with Cehashi collaborating with her on the artistic direction. This album was significant as while the LP is mostly downtempo, it gave birth to two club remix EPs with reworks from Xinobi, Dodi Palese, Hyenah and Monkey Safari. Probably AWEN’s most significant release is the remix of Your voice by Adam Port (Keinemusik), where the veteran producer adds his production expertise, while helping to further present AWEN to global audiences. AWEN has performed around the globe and she also performed live in Paris with Keinemusik. Having collaborated with many artists, Awen’s most recent work is on a new original track with Daniel Rateuke that will most likely be the singer’s first release of 2023.
