Klymaxx, the original LA based all girl band, was voted by BET viewers, in approximately 2012, as the #5 female group of all time. Klymaxx has undergone a reboot led by bassist, Joyce "Fenderella" Irby, the original lead singer on 3 of Klymaxx's biggest recordings, including their biggest hit "I Miss You". Joyce Irby & Klymaxx have one of the most dynamic live shows ever! There are some new and old faces, but the original voice, still remains.
The original members, Bernadette Cooper, Lorena Stewart, Lynn Malsby, Robbin Grider, Cheryl Cooley and Joyce Irby no longer perform together, but all are active in music. In 2004, VH1 "Bands Reunited" series featured Klymaxx in concert, performing without their guitar player, who tried to trademark the Klymaxx name for herself. This created a permanent rift, and guaranteed there would be no happy reunion.
All the girls contributed creatively on the original Klymaxx albums. Joyce Irby & Bernadette Cooper continued to have musical success outside the group. Both recorded solo albums. The successful single, "I Look Good", from "Drama According to Bernadette Cooper" was covered by Bette Midler. Joyce enjoyed a Billboard #1 selling hip hop single "Hey Mr. D.J." featuring Doug E Fresh. Most recently Joyce had a top 5 single, as a writer in 2012, with Fat Joe and Chris Brown's "Another Round" which certified gold.
