The Persian-American, LA born artist Gia Woods burst onto the scene
with the viral sapphic hit "Only A Girl" in 2016, defining herself as an
artist who is bold, cutting edge, and proud of her identity.
Gia's EPs Heartbreak County, Vol.1 and Heartbreak County, Vol. 2 were
inspired by her experiences living, loving and growing up in Los
Angeles. Vol. 1 delves into the "uglier side" of the iconic city with each
song representing one of the classic vices of the City of Angels:
addiction, sex, fame, and God. In Vol. 2 Gia takes a more personal tact,
exploring heartbreak and disappointment "without all the glamor" of
Vol. 1. Though Gia explores serious subject matter across the two
releases she does so through her own undeniable lens, creating a sonic
experience full of synth heavy, heart pounding, beat driven hits.
"Your Engine" is the start of a new chapter for Gia, with the rising pop
star leaning deeper into her Persian heritage for inspiration and
reaching even greater emotional depths - as a writer and co-producer.
Gia grew up in a traditional Persian household in which her family saw
music as a part-time hobby instead of a higher calling. While her
culture massively shaped her artistry Gia picked up guitar and piano on
her own and gained influence from Western artists such as Madonna,
Radiohead, and Bjork. Your Engine EP marks the dawn of a new era for
Gia, diving into "what drives" her and listeners. Get ready to start your
engines...
