Desert Dwellers
Desert Dwellers is a diverse electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and has since become a cornerstone of global festival culture. Blending influences from countless genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dance floor experiences. In 2025, Desert Dwellers entered its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend stepped away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael. The trio of Amani, Treavor, and Sarkis have begun co-creating a powerful new body of work, blending their distinct talents into an inspired next chapter. A reimagined live show is also in the works, which Treavor and Sarkis will debut in 2026.
