Born in a small town in west bengal in India Mekhla Dasgupta started her musical journey from a very early age, inheriting her musical talent from her mother. She is in her path of fulfilling her mother’s incomplete dream of becoming a professional singer.
While doing her graduation in economics at the University of Calcutta she was inducted to the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy for training of classical music under the mentorship of Kumar Mardur. She has participated in various TV music talent hunt shows like Etv ” Tarana” , DD Bangla “Eto Sur Aar Eto Gan” having received distinction results in all. After her graduation she entered the Zee Bangla “Sa re ga ma pa” where she was among the top 5 finalists.
She has also received the All India Radio special prize in Rabindrasangeet. While contesting in saregamapa she has done a playback in a Tollywood movie named "Dekh Kemon Lage" for a composition by the esteemed Music Director Jeet ganguly for which she received debut female nominations for Mirchi Music and Telly Cine Awards. Additionally, she has also lend her voice for themes and songs of various TV programs.
Her recent playback is "Mon Kyamoner Jonmodin" composed & penned by Ranajoy Bhattacharjee for a bengali movie named "HRIDPINDO" .
