Joanna Borrett
Joanna Borrett is a composer and cellist. She is a house composer at Kevin Mayhew and several of her pieces are included in the ABRSM and Trinity College exam syllabuses. Joanna’s first string orchestra work – Clan – was recorded by Her Ensemble in 2024. The recording was chosen as Album of the Weekend by Scala Radio, Video of the Day by Gramophone and the third movement has been played on Radio 3’s programmes Earlier and Classical Unwind. Clan has also been played by the Duchess of Edinburgh’s String Orchestra at the royal investitures at Holyrood Palace. Joanna’s beginner cello book – Wild Cello – was published last April. Her first song cycle – Moments of Freedom – has just been released and Her Ensemble are recording three of her new string orchestra music this month. She has just completed her first songs for unaccompanied choir called Songs of Belonging.
