The enigmatic force that is “Torque” (Born Thabiso Popela) has tastefully garnered recognition within the South African Dance Music scene, with a mellow, soulfully relaxing sound that captivates a listener from the minute you press play. His expertly crafted melodic genius, and infectious rhythms have earned him high-profile co-signs from the likes of Nomcebo Zikode, Fireboy DML, Sofiya Nzau, Themba (formally known as Euphonik), Heavy K, Lady Du, Mobi Dixon, Sir Trill, Nkosazana Daughter, Lwah Ndlunkulu and many more. The Limpopo-bred producer/DJ chose to quit his job at Hollywood Bets to fully pursue an illustrious music career. Since this decision, Torque has managed to established himself with a number of notable records: Debuting strongly with his 2017 single titled “Yini Na” featuring Boohle, which attained national radio and television spins. Torque has also remixed the classic house tune, “Stomp Your Feet” alongside Themba, which continues burning the international dancefloors, while clocking a Botswana number #1 hit single titled “Call Me” with Lioness Ratang in late December 2024. His latest collaboration “Babize Bonke” alongside Heavy K and Ntando Yamahlubi has broken charts, crossing over 1M streams on YouTube in less than 24 days. TorQue is currently bubbling as one of the next industry giants!
