Born in Hong Kong, raised in Moscow, and educated in London, Indian-origin recording artist, music producer, and audio engineer Rahul Shahani, popularly known as Shah Rule, is going from strength to strength by consistently putting out hits and firmly making his mark on the Indian hip-hop scene.
He made his acting debut in 2019 with the critically acclaimed 'Gully Boy' spearheaded by directed Zoya Akhtar, in which he played the role of a battle rapper who competed against the film's protagonist (played by actor Ranveer Singh). Later that year, his talent was rewarded by being signed to rapper DIVINE’s independent venture, Gully Gang Entertainment, where he then featured on the label's 'Gully Gang Cypher' and a single called ‘Kaun Hai Tu?’ featuring Raja Kumari.
He also featured on Raftaar’s album, ‘Mr. Nair’ on the track ‘Me And My Pen’. His 2021 debut EP release “Hooked” featuring hip-hop heavy-hitters DIVINE, Frenzzy, Sikander Kahlon and more, was put together thematically to shine some light on the ways humanity deals with modern-day vices. Shah Rule began his 2022 releases with the high acclaimed Mumbai - Delhi collab “Nahi Hai Woh” featuring Raftaar & MC Altaf, and created waves all over Desi Hip-Hop with a hidden collab release via the video revealing the features in realtime.
His debut LP "Call You Right Back, I'm In Therapy" was released in July of 2023, featuring global desi icons Mickey Singh, Lisa Mishra, Anik Khan and more.
