Tripoli-born Bahjat is the rising star of A-pop (Arab Pop), a genre he coined to describe his unique fusion of global pop with Arabic musical elements. Singing since the age of two and teaching himself guitar at thirteen, he began uploading covers online at fifteen with the dream of becoming a global voice for his generation. Only months later, war broke out in Libya, forcing him to flee to Malta, where music became both a coping mechanism and a compass, guiding him through displacement and the search for identity. What began as bedroom recordings gradually transformed into a movement. By 2022, Bahjat’s videos were going viral across social media, rapidly building a community of more than one million fans known as the “bahjatroops” and earning him TikTok’s Music Creator Bronze Award. His songs, known for their emotional storytelling and cross-cultural sound, have since connected with audiences worldwide, amassing over 200 million streams and half a billion views across digital platforms. As an entirely independent artist, Bahjat has achieved what many consider impossible: breaking through global barriers without the backing of a major label, becoming one of the most successful Libyan artists in history, and carving a space for Arab voices on the world stage.
