With his breakout Afrobeats single “Colorado” featuring Dai Verse, Zugo emerged early in the 2020s as one of Nigeria's fast-rising stars. The “Loftybeats” produced 2020 single, paved the way for him both as an artist and an audio engineer (most of his songs are self-engineered).
Zugo was born “Chukwuezugolum Tochukwu Okafor” in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria in 1998. He began recording music post-secondary school after he had dabbled with writing songs and singing in the choir in his earlier years.
His dissatisfaction with not getting exactly what he wanted from his early days of music recording led him down the path to recording and mixing his songs himself.
After he graduated secondary school, he moved to “Owerri” to attend University, to pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics.
Armed with newly gathered knowledge in music and engineering, he began to record music for himself and his fellow artist friends in school. The school was where he met super producer “Lofty” and super artist “Dai Verse”.
With production by Lofty and an addictive hook by Dai Verse, Zugo created "Colorado." This marked his rise to prominence and generated a local buzz along the way and 2021 saw the release of “Cover Me” which features his hometown hero “Ruffcoin”. Zugo remains active in the scene till the present day, dropping several hit singles and projects. He is now known to dish out only classics from his musical repertoire, nothing but the best from this musical "jeen-yuhs".
