Brandon Stansell
A decade after releasing his debut single, singer-songwriter Brandon Stansell has carved out a distinct place for himself in the world of country music. Known for his passionate advocacy for the queer community and his push for greater visibility of LGBTQ artists within the traditionally conservative genre, Brandon has become a trailblazer. In 2018, his music video for the single “Hometown” made history as the first LGBTQ-themed video to debut on CMT. It was also named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 Best Country Videos of the Year. In 2020, he released Hurt People, an emotionally charged EP about his family's reaction to his coming out. The EP also served as the soundtrack to his documentary, Three Chords and a Lie, where the Tennessee native opens up about his struggles with his Southern Baptist upbringing while preparing for his first show in his hometown. Produced by OutTV and Leslie Jordan, the documentary premiered at OutFest in Los Angeles in August 2020. In 2022, Brandon released his sophomore album, This Must Be The Place, blending the heart-wrenching country sounds of his earlier work with a fresh, hopeful pop energy. His latest single, “Now I Do,” released on December 13, 2024, via PEG Records and Warner Music Group/ADA.
