Born from the musical dreams of Istanbul-based musician/producer Tolga Boyuk, Islandman represents a fictional character, a music persona, a dreamer composing the stories of a non-existing place…
Islandman performs on stage in an electro-acoustic live trio format. Their music can be described as a unique mix of mellow electronic structures & dance beats with spacey live guitars, backed up by shamanic rhythms.
Islandman released their latest album Godless Ceremony in 2021 via their longtime musical home Music for Dreams. The following year, the interplanetary trio released Bahar EP. The title track became the song that heralded spring for the band's fans.
This year, Islandman brought together two unique musicians in the same project. The band was part of Night Dreamer's Direct-To-Disc series with legendary percussion inventor Okay Temiz and contemporary saz virtuoso Muhlis Berberoğlu. Recorded in Amsterdam, the album combines Okay Temiz's innovative percussion acumen with Islandman's trademark Balearic-sounding production and the modern Anatolian folk sounds of Berberoğlu's saz. The album, titled Direct-To-Disc Sessions, was released on March 9th.
Last July, the band announced their new EP, Popsicle Obstacle. The first single from Islandman's upcoming EP was Sunshine, released on July 14th via Music For Dreams. While the band is counting down to their new EP, they are also preparing for a huge album tour in the fall. Stay tuned for new songs!
