Echo & The Bunnymen

Echo & The Bunnymen are a seminal post-punk band formed in Liverpool in 1978. Known for their brooding atmospherics, poetic lyricism, and Ian McCulloch’s haunting vocals, they became key figures in the UK's alternative music scene of the 1980s. Their early albums—Crocodiles (1980), Heaven Up Here (1981), and Porcupine (1983)—earned critical acclaim, but it was Ocean Rain (1984), featuring the lushly orchestrated "The Killing Moon," that cemented their legacy. The band has sold over 10 million records worldwide. Echo & The Bunnymen’s sound has profoundly influenced a wide range of artists, including Coldplay, The Flaming Lips, Interpol, The Killers, and The National. Their atmospheric guitar work and melancholic grandeur helped shape the blueprint for modern indie rock and shoegaze. They have collaborated with notable figures such as Ray Manzarek of The Doors and have shared stages with U2, New Order, and The Cure. Despite lineup changes and hiatuses, the band has maintained a devoted following and continues to release new material and tour globally, preserving their status as icons of alternative music.
