Joey Calveiro's journey into music began at a tender age of 7 when he embarked on classical piano lessons. However, it wasn't until his introduction to the alto saxophone at the age of 12 that his passion truly ignited. Fascinated by the saxophone, Joey's initial attempts at playing were far from perfect. Yet, with unwavering determination and dedicated study, his skills blossomed. Under the guidance of his mentor and saxophonist extraordinaire, Yainer Horta, Joey's musical prowess flourished. Inspired by his grandfather, jazz guitarist Fernando Teo Calveiro, Joey embarked on the creation of his debut album, "Among the Stars." A testament to familial love and musical heritage, the album features luminaries of the jazz world, including Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdés, and Arturo Sandoval, among others. For Joey, the road to success hasn't been without its challenges. Yet, with each hurdle overcome, he finds profound satisfaction in the journey. From performing at the Miami Heat's opening ceremony to being accepted as a member of the Grammys, Joey's accomplishments are a testament to his unwavering dedication and tireless pursuit of excellence. As he sets his sights on the future, Joey envisions sharing his music with audiences worldwide.
