Demun Jones is from the heart of Georgia, Jones County, to be exact. Growing up, Demun, would work with his father learning to lay bricks and blocks. Working summers and weekends is one of the defining traits that shapes the music we hear today. The work ethic, the realness. Jones jokes, “ You can’t fake a block wall up there, you have to grab ahold of something and build it up.” Musically, Jones got his start participating in acoustic open mic nights and strumming his guitar at parties for friends. The unique approach of rapping along to the acoustic separated Demun from most. His deeply lyrical back ground, inspired by the likes of NWA, Biggie, WuTang, Beastie Boyz coupled with the influence of early rock: Led Zepplin, Hendrix, Black Sabbath mashed up with a rural southern upbringing equals what we all know now as Demun Jones.
In what seems to be the grand total of his influences and experiences, Jones brings an intense energy to his records and even more aggressive side in live performance. “Being from the country and being so impacted by the break dancing, hip hop culture put me in quite a spot. It took many years of chiseling away at myself, writing and trying different angles to find myself as an artist. To reflect my true self as an artist I had to bring together 2 things; my upbringing in Jones County, and my love for rap music."
Jones has built his brand up similar to the way he built those brick and block walls, one show at a time, one fan at a time.
