The Red Pears
Originating from El Monte, a quiet suburban enclave just east of Los Angeles, The Red Pears, consisting of Henry Vargas (vocals/guitar) and Jose Corona (drums), initially shaped their eclectic sound by merging influences from the early 2000s New York indie rock and grunge scene with the cumbia and corridos that colored their childhoods. After lineup changes, bassist Patrick Juarez joined, forming the current trio. The band gained recognition with self-releases like For Today, For Tomorrow, For What Is, For What Could’ve Been and We Bring Anything to the Table... Except Tables We Can't Bring Tables to the Table. Their EP Alicia, released in 2019, showcased a refined alt-rock sound. The 2021 album, You Thought We Left Because The Door Was Open, marked a matured reinvention of their nostalgic indie attitude. The band's guiding principles remain honesty and dedication to their craft. Notable features in SPIN, L.A. Times, and Remezcla, along with sponsorships from brands like Fender, highlight their growing success. The Red Pears' electrifying performances, from headlining tours to sharing stages with renowned acts, have garnered attention and sold-out shows at venues like The Wiltern and The Novo. 2024 includes a return to Coachella and a debut arena show with Chicano Batman.
