De Mthuda, born Mthuthuzeli Gift Khoza in Vosloorus, South Africa, is a powerhouse in the Amapiano scene—a genre fusing house, jazz, and kwaito. Raised in a township buzzing with creativity, he evolved from a teenage DJ spinning at local gigs to an internationally celebrated producer. His passion for music, sparked early on, grew through dance and DJing before he dove into production, crafting a signature sound with jazzy chords and Amapiano’s iconic log drum.   His big break came in 2019 with "Shesha," a gold-certified hit with Njelic that lit up South African dance floors. From there, De Mthuda’s star soared. Collaborations with Kabza De Small, Samthing Soweto, and Sir Trill showcased his versatility, while his 2020 debut album Story to Tell, Vol. 1 and the acclaimed Ace of Spades with Ntokzin cemented his influence. Tracks like "John Wick" and "Emlanjeni" became staples, blending soulful vibes with irresistible beats.   Known for emotive, polished productions, De Mthuda’s work—like "Jola" and "Wamuhle"—transcends trends. He’s not just a studio wizard; his electrifying DJ sets and mentorship via Ace of Spades Records amplify his impact. His hits & his accolades pile up—nominations at the SAMAs and Amapiano Awards included. Private yet magnetic, De Mthuda’s teasing an April 2025 album drop, promising more genre-defining magic.
