Singer KAF traverses virtual frontiers using the time-tested power of the human voice. The 20-year-old Japanese artist presents as a digital anime-style avatar, but her music centers the creativity and expression only capable from a real person. She started sharing covers and original songs on YouTube in 2018. Her avatar and reality-meets-digital music videos caught attention, but it was KAF’s creations themselves that made a deeper connection.
She honed her skills via EPs and eventually albums, showcasing the variety of her music and how her voice could match any sound while lyrically still hitting an emotional sweet spot. KAF has brought her skills to prominent live venues across Japan, including a sold-out appearance at the historic Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. Forbes Japan named her one of their “30 Under 30” to watch in the country in 2022, the same year she sold out the historic Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. Listeners in Japan and beyond continue connecting with her music and words as she navigates the space between youth and adulthood, as present on 2023 third full-length album Kyoosou. She’s collaborated with a wide variety of like minded artists, and continues to explore the space between the digital and real all while focused on the now.
