Babylone Born on February 8, 1989, in Sidi Ghiles (Tipaza, Algeria), Mohammed Amine DJEMMAL—better known as Babylone—grew up in Gouraya during one of Algeria's darkest periods. Amid water and power cuts, and the shadows of terrorism, Amine found rare moments of escape. One weekend, his father gave him a small piano wrapped in newspaper—its pages filled with images of war. That bittersweet gift became a turning point: music would be his refuge. Raised in a modest home, the eldest of four sisters, Amine worked odd jobs—selling sardines at the port, performing at weddings—all while composing songs with friends by the beach and mountains. Despite economic hardship and a diagnosis of sleep apnea, he excelled in school, became a dentist, but never let go of his first love: music. In 2012, his musical journey began. A first radio appearance led to the recording of ZINA, which hit the airwaves in December and marked the birth of Babylone. The song became a nationwide sensation. In 2013, he released his debut album Brya, which found success without the backing of heavy media promotion—proof of the public’s organic connection to his art. After years of global performances, the pandemic in 2020 paused the world. During this time, Babylone explored Raï music and, against all odds, topped the charts in the genre. Now in 2024, Babylone returns with Mosaïque—an 11-track album blending minimal pop and world sounds, a reflection of his growth and a mosaic of his roots and dreams.
