Melina León
Yamillette Aponte-Yunqué (given name of Melina León) was born on July 12 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. Her passion for singing comes since she was a child from her mother Asunción Yunqué, who sang to her and her three brothers at all times. Melina began her professional career in full adolescence, exhibiting her melodious voice in musical groups such as Las Cherís and Rubí. Later she was part of several groups that appeared in various hotels in Puerto Rico. At that time, the young singer interpreted songs in the genres of ballad and pop, which served as the basis for what would later be her greatest aspiration: to launch as a soloist.
