"Every song takes me on a journey with their story and I want to keep going on these different journeys as long as I can". - Ro Sha
Ro Sha aka Roshni Baptist is an Indian singer - songwriter from Mumbai city. She started her songwriting project in 2014.
For Ro Sha writing songs is creating new experiences each time. "You don't know where the song is going to go, what "genre" it develops into, you just let the song decide it for itself!" Her writing is essentially Pop Contemporary with influences of Country and Folk and songwriting styles of artists that have influenced her over the years.
Ro Sha was a choir girl since the age of 6, later a backing vocalist to Indie Pop projects in Mumbai in her late teen years. She joined a Mumbai based cover band in 1999 that toured various parts of India. But had to quit the music scene altogether in 2001. She worked for 10 years in a 9-5 job. Unable to ignore the musical pull within her, and inspired by the story of UK songwriter Imogen Heap whilst living in the UK she decided to come back to India and pursue music once again. Since 2010 she has lent her voice to Ad Jingles and Bollywood playback whilst writing and working on her own music.
Unbound was her first studio recorded album. Written and Composed by Ro Sha and Co- produced with Mumbai based music producer Joell Mukherjee. A semi-acoustic album with influences of American Country Pop and Folk music. Released digitally with Times Music India in 2016.
