Music wasn’t always in Sanjay Gupta’s blood but from a young age, music found a way of transfusing itself into his bloodstream. Sanjay’s upbringing in NYC exposed him to the culture, noise and expression which he knew he was destined to be a part of. After a relocation to the home of Bollywood, Rock n Roll was a million miles away but the sound of The Doors, Nirvana, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Enanitos Verdes had already told him that music was his calling. There was little his disapproving medical family could do to disconnect that call. After creating his own cover band, it wasn’t long before he started writing his own music and offered his signature sound to the airwaves. By gaining an appreciation for the nuances found in different genres, he found his sound somewhere between Alternative, Rock and Folk. Even Bollywood had a lasting influence on his multicultural dynamic sound which continues to evolve with each new musical endeavour. With a tendency to switch between English, Hindi and Spanish vocals, and a refusal to stick to one sound, his dynamic creativity just like his passion for music is boundless. From Alternative to Rock, there’s no telling what Sanjay will release next. Stay tuned, there is always something new in the pipeline.
